Hello English learners!
There are many reasons for learning English: English for work, English for school exams, English for travel, etc.
Our adult students predominantly need English for work, but what kind of jobs do they do? What kind of lives do they lead that involve English?
On our ‘Student’s Voices’ page, you can see how 3R English has helped students in accomplishing their English language goals.
Another adult student who takes private lessons with us is a director for the popular Japanese clothing company Beams Plus.
‘Harry’ leads an exciting and busy life in a job that takes him all over the world, in collaboration with many western apparel companies. Naturally, English is the primary language for communication while doing business abroad, and it is arguably an essential skill for professional people like him.
One of Beams' latest projects is a partnership with Palace skateboards from London.
The promotional video also features the musician ‘Bez’ formally from the U.K. band the Happy Mondays. As a British English teacher in Japan, it is nice to see influences from my younger life in England being recycled here in Japan by one of my students thirty years on!
In the six months or so that Harry has been with us, he has had the opportunity to use his new-found English skills with native English speakers many times. From his feedback, we can see that his listening and speaking skills have improved, and moreover, he is able to understand and keep up during English conversations now.
Harry has been kind enough to allow us to share PALACE BEAMS+ video with everyone. We think it’s great, and we hope that it might inspire you and show you what opportunities are out there in the world for English-speaking Japanese people!
As you can see, Harry can also include ‘bass player’ in his list of skills, as well as languages!
Enjoy!
Richard & Miyako
