Hello English learners,
We are very proud to announce that one of our 3R-English pupils was recently chosen this summer to represent her school at the ‘H.I.H. Prince Takamado Trophy 77th All Japan Inter-Middle SchoolEnglish Oratorical Contest’ in Tokyo.
This prestigious contest has a 75-year history and features finalists from each Japanese prefecture, competing to show off their English skills by delivering a five-minute spoken presentation on the subject of their choice. Please visit the link for information:
The contest is held in very high regard nationally. The standard of spoken English represents the very best among junior high school students, so the competition is fierce.
Sara, our own 3R pupil from Yokohama, worked very hard on her presentation, which we have included below. It is worth noting that she has no other special English education or advantage, other than her weekly lesson with us.
We admired how she chose to tell the audience about her own personal journey in learning English. What her aspirations are and the impact it has made on her young life so far. We found her speech inspirational and uplifting, and we were also impressed with her standard of writing and English comprehension. It was very fulfilling for us as her English school to see the fruits of our combined efforts in the classroom.
Unfortunately, Sara was not able to progress to the prefectural stage of the contest. However, she left with her head held high, receiving much praise from her own junior high school teachers for her performance and courage.
Everyone at 3R-English is also very proud of Sara. We have seen her develop her English skills and continue to grow in confidence since she began attending our classes.
As her speech suggests, be confident and set yourself a goal!
Never stop learning!
