"Season's Greetings!” To our English learners past, present and future.

As we all finish another journey around the sun, most of us are reflecting on what we have achieved this year, plus our goals for 2026.

From the school’s perspective, we have had a very successful year. 

We have enjoyed seeing our 3R students accomplish many achievements. It is always very humbling for us to play a part in a student's development. Learning a language not only develops a person’s skills, but it can also be character building and give them a new outlook on life.

We are pleased to say that 2025 has been an amazing year for English exam successes:

Our Callan coursework exams have generally returned higher grades.

Children’s 6-monthly performance reports have largely improved (with one pupil moving up by two whole grades through their effort and determination!).

We have had an unprecedented amount of EIKEN passes by 3R English students. Including Grade 2’s.

Our adult students have boosted TOEIC scores significantly, along with a promotion for one person.

The introduction of our small 3R English library is so far paying great dividends. It is no secret that we are passionate about reading English for fun. Reading English at home, or on your commute, will fill in all the gaps in your abilities. It will improve your English fluency in every area you can think of, so please consider reading if you are not already doing so.

Setting yourself goals and making resolutions for 2026:

Having a meaningful goal will give you the motivation required to focus and keep going. Breaking these goals down into small, manageable parts that are realistic and doable is how you will reach the finish line.

Why not consider:

1. Practising English EVERY day. 

Just 20 minutes daily is over 2 hours a week. Be consistent and revise often, using the Callan app.

2. Reading an English book every month.

Every successful student we have ever had has read English for fun.

3. Enrolling yourself for an EIKEN or TOEIC English proficiency exam.

These milestones can really motivate you to study and will give you a valuable qualification as a reward.

4. A foreign holiday or homestay in 2026.

Trips abroad like these are perhaps the best way of putting your English to the test. Immerse yourself in the culture, food, history and language of an English-speaking country. Callan lessons are simply ideal for recreating conversational situations and replying to foreigners.

5. Being more adventurous.

It can feel safe and secure following the same routines, but without change we cannot really grow. Taking up a hobby, joining a club or anything that involves speaking to people in English will be of great benefit to your language skills. Even using more English media and watching films, TV, podcasts, etc., once a week will improve your abilities.

Whatever your ambitions are, be confident and don’t give up!
